Let’s face it guys. 2012 has been an INSANE year for The Monkees. I was looking at pictures I posted just a year ago and I was talking about Davy in the present tense.

Now (in the literal sense), Davy Jones is a part of history. I miss him. But mostly I’m just glad we had him. Imagine if he had stayed a professional jockey and never joined The Monkees? We have so much to be thankful for. Fate did its job and brought the four perfect guys together.

The lyrics to “That Was Then, This Is Now” mean even more to me…

You always say you like my style.
You say I’m tough and kind of wild.
Am I too much for you to tame?
I swear this time it’s not a game.

I’ve known a lot of girls.
No, this I won’t deny.
I’ll give our love,
I’ll give it more than a try.

That was then, (that was then) this is now.
Let me prove my love girl, I’ll make you proud.
I never made (never made) this kind of vow.
That was then, this is now

I’ve led a thousand lives it seems.
And there’s been a lot of broken dreams.
My mind’s just swept love aside.
But you broke me down and put me wise.

I’ve doubted all compassion,
But you showed me the door.
I can’t doubt it,
I don’t doubt it no more.

That was then, (that was then) this is now.
Let me prove my love girl, I’ll make you proud.
I never made (never made) this kind of vow.
That was then, this is now.

I’ve known a lot of girls.
No, this I won’t deny.
I’ll give our love,
I’ll give it more than a try.

That was then, (that was then) this is now.
Let me prove my love girl, I’ll make you proud.
I never made (never made) this kind of vow.
That was then, this is now.

That was then, this is now.
That was then, this is now.

That song was always so important to me while I grew as a Monkees fan. It really could be their life soundtrack song.

So it begs the question. This is now. What now???

Micky has a new album and Mike Nesmith and Peter Tork are putting aside 45 years of brotherly strife for what??

US!! They are doing it for US, the fans. We have weathered many storms together and this tour feels like a genuine thank you from the boys.

For those of us who weren’t even born when The Monkees hit the air, we may never fully understand Monkee mania the way you original fans do.

But Monkee mania 2012 is alive and strong!! I hope and pray that the fans can put aside our differences (just like our boys are doing right now) and show that we want an official reunion!

Forever! Can you imagine if they recorded a new album?? The possibilities are endless, my friends!

So, that WAS then… THIS IS NOW!! It’s not 1966 or 1986. We have evolved and so have The Monkees.

I personally can’t wait to see the future of these guys who have brought us so much joy!

We LOVE The Monkees! 🙂
